Coach­ing pro­gramme hailed a suc­cess

Ar­ran High pupils who learned lead­er­ship skills will use them to coach younger chil­dren.

The Lead­ers Week pro­gramme or­gan­ised by North Ayr­shire Coun­cil’s Ac­tive Schools team to de­velop the coach­ing and lead­er­ship skills of 63 pupils, from schools in the au­thor­ity area, has been hailed a suc­cess.

An army of top-class coaches from sports, in­clud­ing the Scot­tish Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion, Scot­tish Rugby/Ar­drossan Ac­cies, Scot­tish Ath­let­ics, Scot­tish Hockey, Bas­ket­ball Scot­land, Ydance Scot­land, Scot­tish Rugby and Scot­tish Dis­abil­ity Sport, passed on a wealth of knowl­edge dur­ing the four-day course at St Matthew’s Academy.


Pupils gained Ac­tive Schools/Scot­tish Gov­ern­ing Body awards at the end of the week.

Bruce McMaster, Ac­tive Schools co-or­di­na­tor, said: ‘It was a fan­tas­tic week and I must pay trib­ute to all the pupils who took part.

‘A big thanks must go to all the or­gan­i­sa­tions and coaches who took part.’

All the pupils who at­tended the course.
