Strictly Sarah
Dancing her way to charity cash
An Arran dancing queen has finished runner-up in a charity contest.
As reported in the Banner last month, Sarah Kelso took part in (A Little Less) Strictly Come Dancing at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow to raise money for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice. This event saw Sarah and her dance partner, Graham Fox, compete against five other couples for the coveted glitter ball trophy dancing the salsa.
Sarah, from Shiskine, but who now lives in Glasgow, said: ‘I am thrilled to say we were runners up on the night, which meant I got to dance twice but, more importantly, I have raised more than £7,500 for the hospice – more than double my original target. ‘Needless to say, the Arran support did not let me down – both in the friends and family that came along to support me on the night but also the many generous people who sponsored me and helped with my fundraising efforts. I’m extremely grateful to have had such fantastic community support, as always.’
The event is the hospice’s flagship fundraising event of the year to support their ‘Brick By Brick’ Appeal to build a brand new hospice in Glasgow.
This was the event’s eighth year and was hosted by Carol Smillie and Bryan Burnett. The BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing’s Giovanni Pernice and his professional partner Luba Mushtuk performed on the night and also formed part of the judging panel.
