All smiles at Cooriedoon
Residents and staff at Cooriedoon care home in Whiting Bay are celebrating after winning first prize in a competition for National Smile Month.
Putting on a raft of activities from a barbecue to an art competition and a singalong, the event, one of Cooriedoon’s largest yet, was judged as North Ayrshire’s best.
National Smile Month is the UK’s largest campaign promoting good oral health. Individuals, groups and organisations, such as hospitals and care homes are invited to take part in the campaign activities and to enter a competition for the best event.
Organiser Maureen Laya, health advisor, welcomed a member of the judging panel who visited Cooriedoon last week and presented the staff with their first prize, certificate and gift. Maureen said: ‘We took a video of the celebration and other events and submitted it along with the Banner feature and we are delighted to have found out that we have been awarded first prize in the North Ayrshire Category.’
