Church fete is a sell-out success
Brodick Church was packed to the pews with the large number of visitors attending the annual fete held in the church, hall and garden last Saturday afternoon.
The hall, located to the side of the church, offered a tombola, a groaning baking stall and a tea room, which was filled to capacity. In the church itself, visitors keen to scoop a bargain were greeted with a plant stall, bric a brac stalls, children’s toys and a treasure trove of books spread throughout the church pews.
Outside in the sundrenched garden, children’s games took place along with the traditional ducky derby which involved volunteers selling tickets for a numbered duck which was then plucked from an inflatable raft ‘pond’.
The annual garden fete was followed up with the grand auction at the Brodick Golf Clubhouse where larger items and artworks were auctioned off on Thursday night. Proceeds from the fete and the auction all go towards church funds for events and activities throughout the year.
Visitors enjoy delicious homebaking delights while in the background the tombola is packed to capacity.
Church volunteers did a roaring trade in mini loaves which rapidly sold out.
Visitors browse the various books for sale which were laid out across the pews.
