Jim Nichols, the leading light of the Arran Community and Voluntary Services (ACVS) has retired.

Jim has been an asset to the Lamlash based ACVS for more 10 years. He served as treasurer before joining the staff in 2005. As chief executive officer he has guided the organisation through many changes and helped ensure that ACVS is a respected and trusted organisation throughout Ayrshire.

Operations manager Vicki Yuill said: ‘His work ethic has been incredible, putting his all into everything he has done.

‘His contribution cannot be summed up in a few words, it will not be forgotten and we are so pleased that he has chosen to join the board. We would like to say a big thank you, from the ACVS staff, board of directors and from the individuals and groups on Arran who have benefited from his knowledge.’

Jim will remain on the island close to family and friends. However, he will shortly be heading off on a cruise and hopefully many more holidays with his wife Kate.
