Terrified beginners try watercolour course

-

Members of Arran Visual Arts, who host art workshops for members throughout the year, recently welcomed watercolour artist Sheena Phillips back to Arran for a course called: Watercolour for the terrified beginner.

Sheena Phillips from Haddington is a landscape and portrait painter using watercolour, acrylic oil and pastel and has tutored artists on Arran during previous visits. The two-day course started with some loosening up exercises before simple landscapes were produced using tones of one colour, then different colours using wet-on-wet techniques. Sunday saw the use of masking fluid, painting flowers and using tracing.

Feedback received at the end of the course was overwhelmingly positive with all of the attendees feeling that the course was not only useful but enjoyable.
