Truly scrumptious demonstration at Lamlash SWI October meeting
As the first meeting of the new Lamlash SWI session featured Pretty Gorgeous bespoke millinery, the October meeting could justifiably have been entitled Truly Scrumptious.
Kathy Allan of Lamlash brought along three sponges layered with jam and butter cream and crumb coated ready for decorating. Even at that stage the precision of the cake stack hinted at the care Kathy puts in to all her cakes. She had brought with her lots of different pieces of equipment that were new to many members.
After colouring and rolling fondant it was draped over the cake and skilfully smoothed and trimmed to perfection.
Various tools and materials for edible decorations were explained and used to decorate the cake beThe fore a band of edible lace Kathy had made at home was applied round the outside.
In the short time the demonstrator had available it was amazing how much she achieved and how lovely the finished cake looked. Kathy very generously donated the cake to be taken along to Trust Housing in Lamlash the following Sunday.
During the tasty supper that followed, members took the chance to look at the photographs of some of Kathy’s latest cake creations for all occasions.
Members thanked Kathy for a very entertaining and instructive demonstration that was enjoyed by all the members.
