Truly scrump­tious demon­stra­tion at Lam­lash SWI Oc­to­ber meet­ing

As the first meet­ing of the new Lam­lash SWI ses­sion fea­tured Pretty Gor­geous be­spoke millinery, the Oc­to­ber meet­ing could jus­ti­fi­ably have been en­ti­tled Truly Scrump­tious.

Kathy Al­lan of Lam­lash brought along three sponges lay­ered with jam and but­ter cream and crumb coated ready for dec­o­rat­ing. Even at that stage the pre­ci­sion of the cake stack hinted at the care Kathy puts in to all her cakes. She had brought with her lots of dif­fer­ent pieces of equip­ment that were new to many mem­bers.

Af­ter colour­ing and rolling fon­dant it was draped over the cake and skil­fully smoothed and trimmed to per­fec­tion.

Var­i­ous tools and ma­te­ri­als for ed­i­ble dec­o­ra­tions were ex­plained and used to dec­o­rate the cake beThe fore a band of ed­i­ble lace Kathy had made at home was ap­plied round the out­side.


In the short time the demon­stra­tor had avail­able it was amaz­ing how much she achieved and how lovely the fin­ished cake looked. Kathy very gen­er­ously do­nated the cake to be taken along to Trust Hous­ing in Lam­lash the fol­low­ing Sun­day.

Dur­ing the tasty sup­per that fol­lowed, mem­bers took the chance to look at the pho­to­graphs of some of Kathy’s lat­est cake cre­ations for all oc­ca­sions.

Mem­bers thanked Kathy for a very en­ter­tain­ing and in­struc­tive demon­stra­tion that was en­joyed by all the mem­bers.
