Coffee morning raises funds for Arran hospital
The Arran Hospital Supporters’ League raised more than £800 at its coffee morning which was well-attended with a happy, family, community atmosphere with people of all age groups from around the island.
The coffee morning was held last Saturday in Whiting Bay village hall. While seeking to raise funds for the charity, it also accomplished its aim of being an opportunity for supporters to meet and gather and en- joy each others’ company.
Commenting on the success of the event, both financially and socially, secretary Jim Arnold said that the achievement was the result of both the hard work of the committee and the support of the community.
He took the opportunity to thank all those who had helped to make the event a success – those who had come along and spent their money and those who had donated prizes, home baking and their time.
‘The league’s committee is very appreciative of the support and co-operation it receives from the people and businesses of this island and beyond,’ Mr Arnold added.
The coffee morning included a tombola, home baking and a raffle. All of the funds raised are used as grants, donations or gifts to provide comfort and help for the patients and staff at the Arran War Memorial Hospital in Lamlash.
