Sustrans volunteers celebrate on Arran
The work carried out by Sustrans Scotland volunteers across the country was recently celebrated at two-day event on Arran.
More than 40 volunteers attended the ‘festivol’ weekend, which took place at Lochranza Youth Hostel. Attendees learned more about how Sustrans helps people across Scotland to walk and cycle for more of the journeys they make every day, and were updated on regional volunteering projects.
Volunteers also braved the stormy weather to go on led bike rides and walks across the island, guided by Sustrans ride and walk leaders.
Sustrans Scotland volunteer coordinator for routes Laura White said ‘festivol’ was a chance for Sustrans to recognise and celebrate the time and support people gave to the charity.
‘Our volunteers are what makes Sustrans special. We have so many fantastic volunteers across Scotland who are grounded in communities and make a real difference in their local area.
‘Festivol has been an opportunity for Sustrans to give something back to the people whose passion and dedication is so vital in helping us to achieve our vision of happier, healthier communities and a better environment for us all.’
