Ma­rine cable in­stal­la­tion talk-in

Scottish and South­ern Elec­tric­ity Net­works (SSEN) is host­ing two con­sul­ta­tion events on Ar­ran next week to seek feed­back on its pro­pos­als to re­place the ex­ist­ing sub­ma­rine cable which con­nects Ar­ran to Car­radale.

Re­placed

The ex­ist­ing cable, which runs from Bal­liekine to Port Cran­naich in Car­radale, is nat­u­rally com­ing to the end of its op­er­a­tional life and now needs to be re­placed to en­able the con­tin­ued and re­li­able elec­tric­ity sup­ply to the homes and busi­nesses that it serves.

The open-door events are be­ing hosted in both Ar­ran and Car­radale next week by the SSEN project team to pro­vide in­ter­ested stake­hold­ers with an op­por­tu­nity to speak with the team and learn more about the project pro­pos­als, in­clud­ing the lo­ca­tion of the new cable, the on­shore land­ing points and in­stal­la­tion meth­ods be­ing con­sid­ered.

The pre-ap­pli­ca­tion con­sul­ta­tion events will take place at the Auchran­nie Ho­tel on Mon­day May 21, be­tween 2pm and 6pm, and at the same lo­ca­tion on Tues­day May 22, be­tween 10am and 4pm.
