Elderly enjoy high tea in Whiting Bay

The Arran Banner - - News -

One of the two Contact the Elderly groups on Arran enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea courtesy of Cruickshanks B&B in Whiting Bay last Sunday.

The ladies all had a lovely time, and thanked hosts Rob and Nanette Cowieson for their hospitality.

The group’s aim is to help isolated older people by holding an afternoon tea one Sunday a month with the help of volunteer drivers and hosts. Across the UK there are hundreds of groups, more than 130 of them in Scotland.

The charity, which started on the island 22 years ago, needs more volunteers to come forward as hosts once a year, drivers once a month (or reserve drivers) or coordinators to help the existing groups.

Support officer Caroline McGinlay said: ‘Please get in touch with me if you would like to find out more information, would like to refer a lonely older person or to find out how you can help.’
