Sir, Last week, the Forestry Commission, without notice, banned fishing on Loch Garbad until the end of October as they are building access roads, presumably for wood extraction.
This decision, in the height of the holiday and fishing seasons, is disgraceful. The FC must have know for months about their plans, and simple courtesy would dictate that the Arran Angling Association should have been given adequate notice. Subscriptions have been paid – for the loss of more than half a season! Sadly, they will use the Health and Safety argument and members have no recourse but to put up with this high-handed behaviour.
