THE ARRAN BANNER 20 YEARS AGO
Saturday August 8, 1998
This week we focus on just two events. One the Arran Farmers’ Society show, still going strong, and Corrie Capers, which has sadly faded into history.
One of the crews are ready to go in the longboat race.
The judging of the Overhead Chamipion at the 1998 Arran Farmers’ Society show won by the Texel ewe of Susan and Donald Currie of Bellview Farm.
Malcolm Wheeler leads the Viking parade, held as part of Corrie Capers, away from the village hall.
Dog show champion Tara with owner Margaret Pringle of Whiting Bay (left) with second placed Barney and owner Mrs Berry of Lamlash with, we believe, judge Eleanor Harrison.
Mrs Elizabeth Mckellar of Brodick with the best exhibit in the Rural Show, Miss Moffat’s dress.
Jayne Faulkner with Ginger, and a friend, who took part in the riding events at the show.
Katy Huddleston and Kirsty Steel brave the elements as hula dancers in the Corrie Capers fancy dress competition.
Stuart Gough exudes sartorial elegance during Corrie Capers 98.
