Cor­rie Early Years short­listed for award

Cor­rie Early Years class has been short­listed to re­ceive a Play More award as part of an ini­tia­tive aimed at en­cour­ag­ing chil­dren to en­joy more time play­ing out­doors.

Play More was set up to help de­serv­ing nurs­eries and early years classes im­prove their out­door play ar­eas through fi­nan­cial sup­port or mu­rals. It is an ini­tia­tive set up by Su­docrem and has been de­signed to en­cour­age par­ents and chil­dren to get back in touch with na­ture and ex­plore the great­est play­ground on earth – the out­doors.

As part of the cam­paign, Play More asked par­ents to nom­i­nate a de­serv­ing nurs­ery with Cor­rie Early Years class be­ing nom­i­nated and short­listed to re­ceive sup­port for its out­door play area.

The cam­paign, which is now in its third year, is run with the sup­port of Play Scot­land which also en­cour­ages chil­dren to en­joy out­door ac­tiv­i­ties, fresh air, ex­er­cise and ex­plor­ing na­ture.

Once all of the nom­i­na­tions are col­lated, five suc­cess­ful nurs­eries will re­ceive a grant to­wards play­ground re­gen­er­a­tion and five will re­ceive an at­trac­tive mu­ral painted by award-win­ning artist Joy Pirkle.
