Durham win Cup opener

DURHAM Cricket Board opened their ECB County Cup Division 1A campaign with a one-wicket win over Derbyshire at Darlington, writes SAM BLACKLOCK.

Derbyshire won the toss and elected to bat.

Durham started brightly at 11-1, then 11-2, but 62 from Ali Hassan in 84 balls and 52 from Ben Wright in 65 balls led Derbyshire to 206 all out in 50 overs.

Nathan Hall bagged 4-43 from 10 overs.

In reply, Cameron Fyfe fell lbw for just 12 - but Sol Bell (40) and Marcus Brown (28) got Durham back on track along with 40 from Nathan Hall in 43 balls.

Jack Rowley (26) then saw Durham home in 49.5 overs.
