Alexandra Burke will return to the North East on Monday to star in the musical comedy which previously brought her to Sunderland. The former X Factor star is back in the role of disco diva Deloris Van Cartier whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a murder and then attempts to hide away in a convent, disguised as a nun. Soon sisterhood and music – a mix of Motown, soul and disco – prove to be a winning combination. The Broadway and West End hit show, directed and choreographed by Craig Revel Horwood and based on the hugely popular movie starring Whoopi Goldberg, will run at the Newcastle theatre until Saturday.
