WHICKHAM CC hope to bounce back from last week’s Birkett Cup final defeat to Blyth when they face Ashington Rugby in the final of the Northumber­land Cricket League’s Wilson Cup tomorrow night.

The match will be played at Benwell Hill CC and there will be a new name on the trophy, neither team having won it before. ■■NEWCASTLE United Foundation’s Down’s Syndrome football team finished runners-up in the annual national tournament in Birmingham.

They went through their group five league fixtures unbeaten to qualify for the semi-finals, where they defeated Arsenal for their first appearance in the decider.

United lost to Charlton Upbeats but Gary Cringle was voted the goalkeeper of the tournament.
