ASIAN cui­sine restau­rant Sohe has ex­clu­sively joined forces with award-win­ning chef Parichat Som­sriKirby, bring­ing her sig­na­ture style and ex­per­tise to the Jes­mond es­tab­lish­ment for a new dy­namic din­ing ex­pe­ri­ence.

Un­der the guid­ance of Parichat – or Pla to friends and her tal­ented team – Sohe has re-launched as Parichat at Sohe. New ex­tended open­ing hours see lunch and din­ner served seven days a week, be­tween 12pm and 2.30pm, and 5pm and 10pm, Mon­day to Satur­day. On Sun­day it’s open 3-10pm.

Parichat grew up on a rice farm in North­ern Thai­land, where she started out cook­ing for 300 school chil­dren be­fore meet­ing her hus­band Steve Kirby and mov­ing to the UK in 1998.

As Pla trained to cook in Euro­pean kitchens in North East Eng­land, she was able to push her skills be­yond what she had learned back home in Asia.

Fol­low­ing her dream to bring the very best South East Asian food to the North East, she joined Terry Lay­bourne’s 21 Hos­pi­tal­ity Group in 2002, go­ing on to be­come head chef at the pop­u­lar Café 21 in Fen­wick, New­cas­tle.

Parichat has since been named ‘North East Chef of the Year,’ demon­strat­ing her tal­ent and knowl­edge, as well as her cre­ativ­ity and culi­nary in­stinct.

“I’m pas­sion­ate about mak­ing in­gre­di­ents speak for them­selves and ex­press­ing my jour­ney through food, and Parichat at Sohe will pro­vide the per­fect plat­form to present a fu­sion prod­uct that can do this like none be­fore,” she said.

“The North East food scene is ex­cep­tional with so many fine eat­ing es­tab­lish­ments, and Sohe it­self has al­ways been highly re­garded for Asian cui­sine. It’s been a plea­sure work­ing to­gether with the team to cre­ate an of­fer com­pletely new to the re­gion.”

Sohe is owned and man­aged by ho­tel and bar op­er­a­tor Cairn Group.
