Hanley’s move to Norwich nets Magpies £3.5m
NEWCASTLE United are understood to have banked £3.5m for Grant Hanley after his transfer to Norwich City.
Sources at Carrow Road say the Canaries are pleased with the deal after landing the Scotland international at the end of the August transfer window.
Hanley has signed a four-year deal with Norwich and is looking forward to his new challenge.
After leaving Scotland’s training camp to complete the deal, Hanley told Norwich’s TV channel: “Being able to come to a massive club and get games is a big motivation for me.
“It’s a club with high aspirations and a fresh start for me.
“As a defender, I’m a bit of an old-fashioned no-nonsense centrehalf and you pride yourself on clean sheets. We’ve got work to do on the training ground to improve that. I’m looking to hit the ground running.”
Meanwhile, Norwich boss Daniel Farke said: “Although he hasn’t been playing too often with Newcastle lately, he has upcoming games with Scotland which will be good for him before he comes to join us later next week.
“He has very solid experience of playing in the Championship and is a leader too, having been captain of Blackburn Rovers.”
