Metros off due to work

-

METRO passengers will have to use replacement buses this weekend between South Gosforth and Four Lane Ends due to engineering work.

Trains will terminate at both South Gosforth and Four Lane Ends, with buses then taking passengers between the two, stopping at Longbenton and turning round at Regent Centre. Some early morning and late evening buses will also call at Benton.

The buses will be running at intervals of between 12 to 20 minutes on Saturday, January 13, and 15 to 35-minute intervals on Sunday.

Nexus says the disruption is to allow modernisation work on that stretch of track to be completed and a statement on its website reads: “Replacement bus service, number 900, will be calling at or close to all stations from South Gosforth to Four Lane Ends.

“Metro tickets and passes will be valid on the bus service and the driver will sell tickets.”
