A MILLION pounds of Lotto loot in Newcastle is still unclaimed four days after Camelot launched a search for the winner of the golden ticket.

Someone in the city bought the winning £1m Euro-Millions ticket but has not come forward to claim the money.

Camelot say the ticket was bought in Newcastle but will not narrow down the location to an area or shop.

But they are anxious to hand over their winnings.

It is not known if the holder of the ticket is out of the country, in hospital or otherwise unable to check their ticket.

Camelot say it was bought for the Tuesday, December 19 draw.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at The National Lottery, said: “We’re desperate to find this mystery ticketholder and unite them with their winnings. This amazing prize could really make a huge difference to somebody’s life.

“We’re urging everyone who bought a ticket in this area to check their old EuroMillions tickets again or look anywhere a missing ticket could be hiding, so that this prize can turn someone into the newest member of the lottery millionaire club.

“Try checking in the pockets of clothing, in wallets, bags and down the back of the sofa. We have the champagne on ice and our fingers crossed that the lucky winner comes forward to claim their win.”

The winning code for this prize was XMKV 63264 and the ticket holder has until June 17 to claim their prize.

Anyone not in possession of their ticket, but who believes they have a genuine claim, can still make a claim in writing to Camelot, but it must be within 30 days of the draw.

NE postcodes have done well before. Geordies have been made millionaires 93 times since the lottery was launched, Camelot said.

A spokesman said: “Since the launch of The National Lottery, a stunning 883 players have won top-tier prizes of at least £50,000 – that’s more than three winners every month.

“The NE postcode ranks sixth for millionaires, with 93 millionaires made in Newcastle since launch – equivalent to more than four new millionaires being made every year.”
