Opera North brings to the Newcastle theatre Giacomo Puccini’s much-loved tale of a love crushed between two different cultures. The simple set and costumes in Tim Albery’s production allows the story to speak for itself and French soprano Anne Sophie Duprels has been much-praised for her portrayal of young Japanese woman Cio-Cio-San who sacrifices everything to marry a US naval officer.
