Frankie and Johnny In The Clair de Lune

The Chronicle - - What’s On -

Northern Stage

This play, set in a 1980s New York City apartment, sees two down-on-their-luck middle-age lovers on a first date. Frankie is a cynical waitress with a dry sense of humour and too wounded to fall in love again while starry-eyed Johnny, an over-eager chef with his own demons, wants to give romance a second chance. As the radio plays and moonlight filters through the apartment windows, can Johnny, played by EastEnders star Richard Blackwood, break through Frankie’s defences and turn a one-night stand into something more before the sun comes up? Those who have seen the hit film version, will know the answer to that. It runs until June 2. For evening and matinee performance times see www.northernstage.co.uk
