Man seriously injured after bridge fall
A MAN suffered life-threatening injuries when he fell from the Tyne Bridge on to Newcastle Quayside.
Police received reports at around 2.30pm yesterday that a man was seen on the wrong side of the bridge.
Shortly after the call was made, the man fell on to the pavement near to Aveika bar and restaurant.
Several ambulances and police cars arrived and paramedics treated the man at the scene.
No roads were closed but police officers asked members of the public to respect the man’s privacy during his treatment.
The man suffered “serious, lifethreatening injuries” in the fall, according to Northumbria Police.
He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.
