America still has some real heroes

The Chronicle - - Stateside -

JASON Seaman represents the best of America.

At a time when school shootings have seen pistol-toting cops freeze, the unarmed seventh grade teacher didn’t hesitate to act as he wrestled a gunman to the ground after he burst into his Indiana school room.

While President Trump would like to see educators armed, the selfless 29-year-old showed how strong leadership and courage can stop such awful tragedies.

Some may argue he was foolish, others say he was heroic – either way he put the safety of his pupils above his own.

Following his release from hospital – he was shot three times – the Indiana science teacher has played down his role instead saying his “actions that day, in my mind, were the only acceptable actions.”

That is how a true hero thinks and speaks. With humility and grace. No bombast, no selfcongratulation.

Thank God there are still people like this.
