Durham young stars com­plete re­gional dou­ble

DURHAM Un­der-15s con­tin­ued their un­beaten run with the ECB County Cup with a seven-wicket vic­tory over neigh­bours Northum­ber­land at Ben­well Hill Cricket club writes Sam Blacklock.

Northum­ber­land won the toss and elected to bat post­ing 34 be­fore the first wicket fell, as nine of the men in the mid­dle fell cheaply.

Will Perry top-scored with 27 from 40 balls at num­ber two while Matthew Ste­wart (23) and Matthew Scott (20) both contributed.

Spin was the or­der of the way as it was spin­ners who bagged all 10 wick­ets.

Harry Craw­shaw bagged 4-33, while Lu­cas Parry 3-22 also struck.

Lu­cas Parry then led the way in re­sponse with 75 from 86 balls in­clud­ing 12 fours sup­ported by 36 from Craw­shaw as Durham cruised to vic­tory in 37.5 overs.

Durham Un­der-19s proved too strong for York­shire, brush­ing aside the Tykes at Seaton Carew.

York­shire won the toss and elected to bat but strug­gled from the off, Alex Cam­pion de­part­ing for eight in the early stages of the gam.

Durham bowlers were on top through­out the game as Liam Burgess snapped up 3-40 backed by 2-17 from Adam Ahmed and 2-19 from Dan Legge.

Faizan Hus­sain then picked up 2-35 as Durham bowled out the Tykes for 180 in 47 overs.

Cameron Fyfe led the way in reply car­ry­ing his bat with an un­beaten 70 from 94 balls backed by 56 from Tom Hewi­son as Durham took the hon­ours in 32.2 overs.
