Ap­peal af­ter man, 53, in street at­tack

A 53-year-old man has been left with a frac­tured cheek­bone af­ter he was at­tacked in the West End of New­cas­tle.

He had walked from Leazes Park, up Bar­rack Road and onto Brighton Grove where he is be­lieved to have been at­tacked by two men.

The of­fend­ers then fled the area and the vic­tim was taken to hos­pi­tal with a sus­pected frac­tured cheek bone and a dam­aged eye socket.

Po­lice urged wit­nesses to Sun­day’s at­tack to­call 101 quot­ing log 1119 09/09/18 or Crimestop­pers anony­mously on 0800 555 111.
