Many thanks for lady’s kindness

The Chronicle - - Feedback -

ON the day of the terrible storm two weeks ago, when the Metro and other traffic came to a standstill, our Metro from Newcastle to Callerton Parkway was held up due to a tree on the line at Kingston Park.

We were held up at Fawdon Metro station for one and a half hours.

The driver sent for taxis or other transport to get people to their destinations but due to breakdown of all transport this did not happen.

The driver tried his best and allowed us to get back on the train after what seemed like hours.

There was one good thing that came out of this.

I was in a dreadful state due to the wind and cold when a lady from Fawdon came along and gave me a pashmina for the cold.

I asked her for her name and address to send it back to her but she said just keep it as she was pleased to do this for someone. I was very touched in this day and age that kindness is still around.

If she reads this message I would like to say a sincere thanks to her for her thoughtfulness.

I have told friends about this lady and her kindness. It just goes to show there are still kind people, especially in the north east. OLIVE WHITE, Walbottle
