The Nicklinson legal conundrum
You may not have noticed over the Christmas period that Lor d Justice Elias has granted Tony Nicklinson leave to appeal against a High Court r uling that went against him last summer.
Mr Nicklinson suffered from locked-in syndrome and had waged a campaign for assisted suicide. Daily Mail r epor ter Steve Doughty was one of the few to note the extraordinar y nature of this r uling: “So the appeal will decide whether or not Mr Nicklinson should have a legal right to be killed. This would not be so ver y unusual, were it not for the fact that Mr Nicklinson is alr eady dead. (doughtyblog.daily mail.co.uk).”
