South­wark Cathe­dral is hold­ing a se­ries of events through­out 2014 to com­mem­o­rate the cen­te­nar y of the start of the First World War, in­clud­ing a ma­jor book launch, con­certs, a can­dlelit vigil and an im­por­tant pub­lic lec­ture. Dul­wich Col­lege Cho­ral Con­cert, in­clud­ing El­gar’s ‘The Spirit of Eng­land’ will be held on 28 March. Join the vigil on 11 Au­gust at 11pm to mark ‘the lights go­ing out across Europe’ and a ser vice to com­mem­o­rate Ar­mistice Day led by the Dean in the City Hall in South­wark on 11 Novem­ber. Fri­day 14 Novem­ber sees the fi­nale, with the Cathe­dral’s an­nual Col­lege of Canons Lec­ture re­flect­ing on WWI with Canon Andrew Stud­dert-Kennedy.
