As a result of a generous donation made by the Yorkshire Muslim group, Somerset community members are the joyful new recipients of a generous gift of £15,000. The cheque was to be officially presented to the Somerset Community Foundation by the Indian Muslim Welfare society in a meeting to be held last Saturday. The funds will be utilized to help the community rebuild after the devastation inflicted upon them by the winter’s floods. The Bishop of Taunton was due to meet the representatives from the IMWS in Thorney before travelling with them to the Church of St Peter and the Church of St Paul in Muchelney. This, however, will not be the end of their journey. The bishop and the IMWS representatives also visited Burrowbridge to see some of the work undertaken in the village by Muslim and Sikh volunteers who visited earlier in the year. The Bishop of Taunton said he was ‘thrilled’ in regards to the donation.
