Bible message

The Church of England - - NEWS -

Sir, May I take issue please with Alan Minchin (Letters, 14 March) over his apparent antithesis of exegesis (OK) and eisegesis (not OK)? Can the Bible be the only book on earth of which it is not permitted to examine the ‘internal evidence’ as well as the written words (or, to put it crudely, to ‘read between the lines’)? What is not said can often be as significant as the words themselves.

JM Hughes,

Heaton Mersey, Stockport
