There will be a special service at Manchester Cathedral on Saturday 17 May to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the ordination of women to the priesthood. The Guest Preacher is the Most Rev Pat Storey, the first female Anglican bishop in Ireland. Manchester Diocese has over 140 women serving as clergy in the Church. Some were among the first to be ordained priest in 1994.The Bishop of Manchester, David Walker, who will be present at the service, said: “This service will be an opportunity to give thanks for all that women bring to the ordained ministry of the Church.” All are welcome to the service, which begins at 7.00pm.
