Prayer campaign for children at risk
A CHRISTIAN charity is organising a World Weekend of Prayer to campaign for children at risk.
Viva has set 7 – 8 June as time to pray on the question of: ‘How do you make your community more child-friendly?’
Hundreds of thousands of Christians from over 40 nations are expected to gather for marches, services and conferences.
They are all being asked to pray for ‘child-friendly communities’.
According to the UN, over a third of all births are not registered and 115 million children are engaged in hazardous child labour, 61 million primary-aged children don’t go to school and 275 million witness domestic violence each year.
Viva is calling on Christians to pray for these marginalised children, that they ‘would be loved and protected, that leaders would be wise in creating policies, and that churches would have a heart for children in their communities’.
Andrew Dubock, Viva’s Communications Manager, said: “We’re encouraging Christians wherever they are that weekend – whether in homes, churches, Sunday schools or youth groups – to join us in turning to God in prayer.”
