Diocese of Bristol

The Church of England - - News -

Rev, the British television sitcom, highlights some of the problems faced by many inner-city churches but the vicar of Bristol’s St Mary, Redcliffe, is pursuing ambitious long-term plans to develop its Christian witness. The Rev Dan Tyndall, who has just completed his first year there, says while proud of their church’s iconic status on the Bristol tourist trail, the congregation is keen to ensure that they maintain their role as a parish church that serves the people living within the shadow of its spire. “Our purpose in life – to be a beacon of the Kingdom of God and share God’s love – is not some dusty phrase plucked from a prayer book but a down-to-earth description of the type of practical support we are giving to people in one of the most deprived parts of our city,” said Mr Tyndall.
