The foundation stone has been laid for a new £2m Diocesan Centre for the Diocese of Durham. The ceremony, which included a short service of dedication and the burying of a time capsule containing items provided by children from three schools in the diocese, took place at Stonebridge, near Nevilles Cross, Durham. Two children from each of the schools, along with the Bishop of Durham, the Rt Rev Paul Butler, signed the time capsule. Bishop Paul said: “It is a very powerful, symbolic moment; it says this building is happening and we will be moving here and we are building on the foundation of Jesus Christ.”
