St Peter’s Grade II listed Victorian Church in Highfields has received a £29,900 Heritage Lottery Fund Grant to help initiate repair work. The Church is an important part of Highfields’ heritage, consecrated in 1874, and stands in one of the most diverse and disadvantaged neighbourhoods in England. The building is listed as a Priority A on the Historic England’s “At Risk” register.
The church serves the Caribbean Anglican Community. Senior churchwarden Anthony Bradshaw said: “Many of us have been coming to St Peter’s for over 50 years from when we first arrived from the West Indies. We are delighted that our prayers have been answered and that our beautiful church has been guaranteed a long future.”
