SCOTS LOSE SERIES

Coach Neil Menzies and his new-look Scottish U21s, including local duo Katie Stott and Emily Dark, got an early insight into the task that lies ahead in next month’s European championships when they played a three-test series against their Irish counterparts in Belfast over the weekend, writes our women’s

hockey correspondent.

The Scots were 2-1 winners on Friday, with strikes from Lorna Cruickshank and Lexi Sabatelli.

A rejigged Irish squad were 5-2 winners on Saturday, with Cruickshank and Millie Steiger scoring for the Scots.

The hosts took the series with a 2-0 victory yesterday.
