Dundee United manager Ray McKinnon has made his fourth signing of the summer after pipping Hearts to the signature of Celtic winger Paul McMullan last night.

The 20-year-old is leaving the Parkhead club without making an appearance, though they will be due a development fee.

McMullan spent last season on loan at Dunfermline and has also enjoyed spells at Stenhousemuir, St Mirren and Morton.

McKinnon, who has also added James Keatings, Billy King and Tam Scobbie to his squad for the season ahead, said: “Paul is an excellent attacking option, and once I realised that he might be available, I worked quickly to make it happen.”

Meanwhile the United boss admitted that any new signing will have to be right for the club as he prepares to work with a squad of 18 first-team players and a couple of youngsters.

“We are looking at a lot of people just now but we are prepared to be patient,” he said.

“We have to make sure we don’t make any mistakes. I have to get it right with each signing. That’s just the reality of where we are right now. Most people get that. We need everybody to be on the same page.”
