Golf has never seen anything like it – a bomb in the Scottish amateur championship at Carnoustie. In the first round, Kirkintilloch golfer Jim Hay, who is known for his unorthodox left hand down grip, helped to write a page in the history book after driving into a bunker at the 14th hole. Along with his caddie, he spotted the tail of a bomb in the sand. At first he took it to be an old smoke bomb and played his ball out of the bunker. In fact, it was a three-inch unexploded mortar bomb.
