AA in insurance arm talks

The AA confirmed it held discussions about a possible merger of its insurance division with rival Hastings.

The roadside recovery firm said in a stock market announcement preliminary discussions with Hastings were held in early summer to explore a possible combination with Hastings.

It said: “The AA regularly reviews all strategic options, including whether a spin-off of any of its business lines would unlock further value and be in its shareholders’ interests.”
