Forfar Farmers’ Market
Strathmore Hall, Forfar Mart, John Street, DD8 3EZ, 07941 721829, Sat October 14, 9am–1pm, free.
Forfar market has run since July 1999, being the second market in Scotland after Perth. Now based indoors at Forfar Mart’s Strathmore Hall, the market is held on the second Saturday of the month. Regular stallholders include local producers Aberfeldy Oatmeal; Kirie Ales; Gin Bothy; Arbroath Fisheries’ fresh, smoked and prepared fish; Highland Drovers’ traditional meats; Devenick Dairy; Eden Brewery; Puddledub Buffalo and Puddledub Pork – as well as preserves, game, eggs, cakes, fruit, vegetables and almost any other food you could wish to buy, and crafts and homewares also. Resident chef Hayley Wilkes demonstrates recipes each month, which can then be downloaded from the Angus Markets website. There is also a kids cookery club. www.angusfarmersmarket.co.uk
