Trump opponents’ first meeting
A coalition group opposed to any potential visit to Scotland by US President Donald Trump held its first meeting yesterday.
The Scotland United Against Trump talks were attended by Scottish Labour leader Richard Leonard and Patrick Harvie, leader of the Scottish Greens.
A number of trade unions and other campaign groups also took part. Later, a spokesperson for the meeting acknowledged there had been no confirmation of an official visit but said opponents would support a massive protest should it happen.
Officials from Unite Scotland, Unison, the CWU and the GMB all supported marching behind the Scotland United Against Trump banner.
