Trump op­po­nents’ first meet­ing

A coali­tion group op­posed to any po­ten­tial visit to Scot­land by US Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump held its first meet­ing yes­ter­day.

The Scot­land United Against Trump talks were at­tended by Scot­tish Labour leader Richard Leonard and Pa­trick Harvie, leader of the Scot­tish Greens.

A num­ber of trade unions and other cam­paign groups also took part. Later, a spokesper­son for the meet­ing ac­knowl­edged there had been no con­fir­ma­tion of an of­fi­cial visit but said op­po­nents would sup­port a mas­sive protest should it hap­pen.

Of­fi­cials from Unite Scot­land, Uni­son, the CWU and the GMB all sup­ported march­ing be­hind the Scot­land United Against Trump ban­ner.
