High­land games on the beach

Mus­cle­man Neil Bin­ning­ton has his kilt ready for the world’s only beach High­land games.

He was kit­ted out in full High­land dress as or­gan­is­ers pre­pare to make Kirk­caldy’s sands the arena for tra­di­tional events in­clud­ing caber toss­ing, pip­ing and danc­ing.

Body­builder Neil will be among the com­peti­tors in the heavy events on Satur­day June 10.

Kirk­caldy Beach High­land Games are to be staged for the third year, hosted by local Busi­ness Im­prove­ment District, Kirk­caldy 4 All.

Hun­dreds of spec­ta­tors are ex­pected to line the Esplanade to watch the ac­tion which will be­gin at 9.30am with a pa­rade led by Leven and District Pipe Band.

A full pro­gramme of High­land danc­ing, ath­let­ics, heavy events, a tug-of-war and chil­dren’s races will run un­til 1.30pm.
