Brave squirrel takes on nesting osprey

The Courier & Advertiser (Dundee Edition) - - NEWS -

A brave red squirrel tried to invade one of Scotland’s most famous osprey nests, while the resident raptor protects her newly hatched chicks.

The young tufty climbed 65 feet up the pine tree at the Scottish Wildlife Trust’s Loch of the Lowes reserve near Dunkeld, Perthshire, to have a peek inside the nest. The SWT’s nest camera shows the curious red making three attempts to sneak up on the resident female osprey, known as Lassie, before being startled off each time.
