Univer­sity doc­tor ac­cused of mo­lest­ing pa­tients

A for­mer univer­sity doc­tor is to face trial, ac­cused of mo­lest­ing pa­tients at a student med­i­cal cen­tre, up to 25 years ago.

Al­lan Buchan, 56, is said to have touched and held the gen­i­tals of two male pa­tients when it was not med­i­cally nec­es­sary to do so.

In the case of one of the al­leged vic­tims, it is al­leged he also mas­saged the man’s groin.

The in­ci­dents are said to have oc­curred at the Airthrey Park Health Cen­tre on the cam­pus of Stir­ling Univer­sity be­tween Jan­uary 1993 and May 1999, when Buchan was in prac­tice there as a GP.

Buchan faces two charges of as­sault.

At Stir­ling Sher­iff Court his solic­i­tor ten­dered pleas of not guilty by let­ter to both charges.
