and ITV. She probably remains most famous for the ITV series Ladette to Lady, where girls who were a little rough around the edges learned how to behave like a traditional “lady.”

“It felt like the sort of thing that would be cancelled after one series but it was a huge success and we ended up doing six series,” Rosemary says.

“We had some failures and some successes, as you’d expect, and it was tremendously rewarding. Even though it was cancelled six years ago I still get people asking me if we’re bringing it back. I wouldn’t do it again, of course. I’m too old for all that nonsense now.”

In 2012 Rosemary took part in I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here.

Other celebrities sent out to the jungle included Eastenders actress Charlie Brooks, Pussycat Dolls singer Ashley Roberts, boxer David Haye and Birds of a Feather’s Linda Robson.

“The people were what made it,” Rosemary continues. “David, Charlie and Linda were all lovely.

“People keep asking if it was as tough as it looks on TV. You bet it was! It was terribly uncomfortable and you hardly got anything to eat.”

Rosemary owns her own cookery school where she teaches people to be professional chefs.

She’ll be carrying out two cookery demonstrations at Perthshire on a Plate on Friday morning and afternoon.

“I used to try and cram so much into my demonstrations,” Rosemary explains. “But these days I keep it simple. I do one dish and I do it well, taking everyone through it one step at a time.”

Rosemary has also taken to the stage with her show An Evening With Rosemary Shrager, which mixes cooking and cabaret.

“You never know,” she chuckles. “If the Perthshire audience are very good I might give them a song.”
