Coupe’s goal enough for Dundee

-

Dundee U20s dominated the first half of last night’s match at Links Park and led through Connor Coupe’s goal.

Saints rallied in the second half but couldn’t find an equaliser as the Dark Blues held on for their third win.

Mark Smith had Dundee’s first chance but the striker’s low drive was saved by goalkeeper Ben Mackenzie.

Coupe followed up and put the ball into the net, but the midfielder was adjudged to have kicked the ball out of the keeper’s hands, and the goal was disallowed.

Coupe was denied by the bar but 10 minutes before the interval he was on hand to fire the ball past Mackenzie.

Dundee keeper Kyle Gourlay denied Joe Gormley and Jesse Curran’s volley was well saved.

Connor McLaren crashed a shot off the Dundee bar with 15 minutes left and then turned a Gormley cross onto the bar again.

Dundee: Gourlay, Allan, Smyth, Waddell, Quigley, Colquhoun, Curran, Coupe, Skelly (Rice 88), Wighton (Berry 81), Smith (Henvey 73). Subs not used: Ferrie.
