Bright brollies

-

“On holiday in Nova Scotia in Canada last year we had a few very rainy days and I noticed that the streets were deserted during the downpours – obviously Canadians don’t like the rain,” says a regular reader from Fife.

“However, I was out and going about my business with my pretty and brightly coloured brolly – similar to many you see on British streets – when one of the very few people on the street looked at it askance and rudely muttered that it looked like a garden parasol!” she says.

“I observed that her own umbrella was plain black and wondered if patterned brollies were unknown in that part of Canada.

“I thought it was a shame they didn’t brighten up rainy days with a cheery brolly”
