Levenmouth gearing up to go to the polls in council by-election

-

Residents in the Leven, Kennoway and Largo council ward are being urged to turn out and use their vote in next week’s by-election.

Anyone in the ward who is registered to vote will have the chance to choose a new councillor next Thursday.

The ballot follows the resignation of Councillor Alistair Hunter, who has emigrated to Australia.

Linda Bissett, deputy returning officer for Fife, said: “Voting is the most important way for residents to make their voice heard on issues which concern them.

“It’s their opportunity to exercise their right to help influence and shape what happens locally.”

People can vote in person at a polling place.

Anyone who has not received a polling card can visit www.fifedirect.org.uk/elections or call the elections team on 03451 555522 to find out where their polling place is.

You do not need a polling card to vote as long as you are registered.

Anyone who has registered to vote by post will receive their postal vote pack this week.

Linda said it was vital that details were filled in correctly on the ballot paper and signed, or the vote may not be counted.

People with a postal vote cannot vote at a polling station but if they have left it too late to post back it can be handed in to any polling place in the ward next Thursday, or to the elections office at Fife House.

Polling places are open from 7am to 10pm and people will be asked to vote for their candidates in order of choice.

A host of other useful information, including a list of candidates, can be found at www.fifedirect.org/elections.
